Roof  Terminology

Most of us are familiar with terms like Gable and Hip roofs, and we know what Eaves are. These terms, along with some less common ones used in building works, are illustrated here.

Other commonly used terms include:

• Soffit: The underside of an eave. Consequently, a soffit board is the board covering this underside.
